Eligibility/Commitment
  • Young women between the ages of 14-20
  • Complete 6 months educational training
  • Able to attend programming every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 4:30 – 6:30PM
  • Organize a youth campaign
Program Summary

The Females Against Violence (FAV) Program is a 6-month Peer Educator training and Leadership Program for young women of color, ages 14-20, that offers stipends up to $750-$900 for successful completion of the program.

As a Peer Educator, you will build positive relationships with other young women, develop and conduct educational presentations at local High Schools and other community based organizations, participate in local events, learn about other support services and resources, and most importantly, make your voice heard!

The curriculum includes 50 hours of training on teen dating, domestic violence, sexual assault, and youth organizing and each young woman receives a Peer Educator Certificate. One-on-one case management services are also provided to each young woman on a weekly basis.

Schedule

The program is offered year round via 2 cycles. Each cycle is 6 months in duration.

Females Against Violence is not only a Peer Educator training program, but also an opportunity for young women to gain a deeper sense of self-worth and become empowered. It is a space where your voice is not only valued, but needed to keep the program running strong. Have you ever wondered what makes a relationship healthy or unhealthy? What you can do to support your friends? In FAV, you learn the answers to these questions while also gaining new friends and mentors.
